Accessory Ideas for Your Street Legal Golf Carts

You don’t have to hit the links in order have a golf cart. In fact, a street legal golf cart is something that anyone can own, and they are becoming increasingly more common.

They are a great way to get around your neighborhood or town, or just to go on a nice ride around at sunset. However, just like when you get a car, you’ll want to customize your golf cart to make it feel like it’s yours.

That means decking out your golf cart with the all the latest accessories!

What is a Street Legal Low-Speed Vehicle?

The state of Florida  states that LSVs may be operated only on streets where the posted speed limit is 35 MPH or less and must be equipped with the following safety equipment:

  • Headlamps
  • Front and rear turn signals
  • Stop lamps
  • Tail lamps
  • Reflex reflectors, red – one each side and one on the rear
  • Exterior mirror on the driver side and an interior rear-view mirror or exterior mirror on passenger side
  • Parking brake
  • Windshield
  • Seat belt for each designated seat
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN).

A regular golf cart can be converted into a street legal golf cart with certain changes and adjustments made to the vehicle. Once the vehicle is inspected it must be assigned a VIN before it can be considered street legal.

Below, we list some of our favorite ways you can customize your street legal golf cart.

Customized Dash

There are so many different things that you could add to a golf cart that make it feel like it is yours. One of those things as a customized dashboard. Some people may want many cupholders, others only want one cup holder and more storage space.

The good news is that you can create it to be exactly what you want it to be. For instance, you could add four cupholders or just two, you could add a covered storage place, and you could add pre-cut out slots for other accessories that you may want in your golf cart, like a radio.

New Steering Wheel

If you want to spruce up your golf cart, an easy way to do that is to get a new steering wheel. There are many out there with different designs, colors, and materials that you can get for your golf cart. It is a great way to make it uniquely yours.

It is important to note that you need to make sure you get the right hub adapter in order to install the new steering wheel onto your golf cart. If you do this, installation will be a breeze!

New Floor Mat

If you’re ever tired of the way the golf cart looks with a boring floor, there are a few things you can do to spruce it up!

One of the most popular is to add a floor mat. This doesn’t mean that it has to be carpeted or anything (although it can be that too). You can make a floor mat out of any material – one that can be easily cleaned as well!

What’s the point? Well, not only do they add some color and look cooler than the plain black mat that most golf carts come with, but they can also show off your own personalized style!

You could go with a plaid floor mat, a plain bright pink floor mat, or anything else that speaks to you!

LED Headlights

Not all golf carts come with the best headlights, so if you want to add more lighting, and also make it look cool, you can add LED headlights. Not only do you just have to add headlights, but you can also add taillights in the back that match.

You could possibly install the LED headlights yourself. However, you are going to be cutting holes in your golf cart and dealing with other types of tools. In this case, it is best to go with your overall comfort level to determine if you want to install the LED headlights yourself or take it somewhere else that can do it for you.

Whatever you decide to do, keep in mind that there is the possibility that if you do it yourself, you could damage the wiring or cut the wrong size hole in your golf cart, which is a bit hard to come back from.

Custom Wheels

If you really want to deck out your ride, adding custom wheels and tires is one way to do it. There are so many different styles, looks, and designs that you can add to your golf cart to truly make it feel like yours.

Many kits already come mounted and inflated together as the wheel and tire so all you have to do is bolt them on and you are ready to go. This means you can install it and then drive around to show off your new wheels all in the same day.

Custom Seat Covers

Are you not feeling the plain seats that came with your golf cart? Many people don’t. Luckily, you can get a golf cart accessory of seat covers to add style to your golf cart.

Most seat covers are made from vinyl, so that they can withstand the different weather conditions that they are put through outside.

This is also a comfortable material to sit on. You can also pay attention to see if the vinyl of the seat cover is marine grade, which means it is even more durable than outside weather conditions.
